Greenpower Mobility – All-Energy Medium and Heavy-Duty Vehicles Greenpower creates manufactures and distributes an entire range of medium- and heavy-duty electric vehicles. This includes transit buses and school buses as well as cargo buses and shuttles. EV Star is a highly customizable zero-emission vehicle that's fully FTA certified, Altoona tested and Buy America certified. It offers class-leading range, ADA wheelchair provisions, and cargo delivery configurations. EV Star GreenPower Motor Company manufactures a complete range of heavy- and medium-duty electric vehicles, including lower-floor and high-floor models. Their flagship vehicle is the EV Star Cab & Chassis platform, which can be used to accommodate a variety of upfits and bodies for multiple applications. The platform's design philosophy of clean sheets allows the best battery pack placement and a lower center of gravity, which results in better payload-to-range ratios. The EV Star REEFERX was developed for mid-to-last mile refrigerated deliveries and catering applications. The refrigerated truck's class 4 design's one wall structure in the interior and higher insulation compared to traditional trucks allows for seamless sanitation, improved temperature control and a longer life. The EV Star REEFERX has a higher capacity for cargo and an industry-leading payload to allow for zero emission freight or passenger transport. GreenPower has partnered with Perrone Robotics to up-fit the EV Star with their TONY (To Navigate You) autonomous vehicle system, which will allow fleets to easily move to autonomous vehicles. The AV Star is also capable of wireless charging up to 75 kW. We were capable of testing the EV9 on a local highway for several hours. We found it to be easy to drive and comfortable to drive over long distances. The EV9 is able to suppress road noise and wind while driving along the highway. It glides effortlessly over bumps and ruts. The vehicle's acceleration is surprising quick, and it has adjustable regenerative brakes that allow “one-pedal driving” simply by releasing the accelerator. The EV9 is extremely reliable and can be fully recharged in about three hours at home, or with any commercial charger. Drivers can select between two operating modes: eco mode and sports mode. Eco mode focuses on torque and cruise control while the sport mode increases speed and handling. Both are a lot of fun to drive and offer an unique experience for anyone who has not driven an electric vehicle before. In content to the EV9, GreenPower has several other e-vehicles available, such as a multi-purpose, all-electric mini bus, called the EV Star. The EV Star is ADA-compliant and can be used as executive shuttles, microtransit and transit vanpools, buses, and paratransit vehicles. GreenPower produces around 10 EV Star buses per month for the Jacksonville Transit Authority. The Jacksonville Transit Authority is replacing their fleet of diesel vehicles with 100 all-electric cars. GreenPower will increase production to meet the demands of the Biden Administration, which is looking to electrify all school buses in America. Their EV Star buses are the first of their kind to be Altoona tested and FMVSS-certified, Buy America compliant, and ADA conforming. This will make them eligible for federal transit grants.
